Hoschton Bathroom Remodeling
Showers, tile, vanities and vent fans, each priced on paper, so a mid-job switch to a different tile is a choice you make with its cost in front of you.
Few Square Feet, Many Decisions
Count the decisions in a bathroom and the list runs long for such a small room: shower or tub, tile size and coverage, glass, vanity, fixtures, whether the toilet moves. Each carries its own price on the scope, so you can tell which choices are spending the budget.
Pulling up an old floor sometimes exposes a slow leak or spongy subfloor. When that happens, the repair is written up with its cost, and work on it starts only after you sign.
Pieces of a Bathroom Job
-
Showers and tubs
Swapping a tub for a walk-in shower, or stripping an old stall to the studs and rebuilding it, with waterproofing behind the tile and a floor pitched to the drain.
-
Tile and surfaces
Tile on floors and walls, plus niches and benches, laid over a base flat and stiff enough to keep grout from cracking. More coverage and fussier patterns add labor.
-
Vanity, fixtures and fan
Vanities, tops, faucets, toilets, mirrors and lighting, plus a vent fan that actually moves steam outside, with the plumbing and wiring updates the room requires.
Choices That Move the Price
-
Same layout or new
Leaving the toilet, shower and drains in place keeps more of the budget for finishes. Each fixture you move adds floor work and new supply or drain runs.
-
The only full bath?
If it is, the order of work is planned so a working toilet stays available for most of the job, and the days without a shower are marked ahead of time.
-
Upgrades mid-job
Changing your mind on tile or glass after ordering is fine. The new item, any restocking and extra labor are priced on a change order before anything is swapped.
Common Bath Questions
Is a tub-to-shower conversion a big job?
Bigger than it looks. The drain usually moves or gets a larger size, and the wet area needs fresh waterproofing up the walls. Both are listed on the scope with their cost.
Why do bathroom prices vary so much?
Moving fixtures, the amount and type of tile, custom glass and whatever is found under the old floor drive most of the difference. Keeping the layout and updating surfaces is the leaner route.
